Croquet:
a game for everyone
Casual
or competitive calming or calculating! Rules-ruled or relaxed,
Outdoors, quite quirky, unashamedly unusual, easy-as or epic,
testing, thrilling, timeless and timely. Come
and try it!

Why?
Light exercise - both physical and mental, companionship, gender
non-specific, casual or challenging (you choose), suits all
ages and is relatively inexpensive.
When?
Club days, from 9.30 am on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday
mornings
with Twilight play every second Tuesday in Summer from 6pm.
How?
Several forms of the game are played but all essentially involve
a race using a mallet to get
your ball through a number of hoops before your opponent does.
Where?
The North Shore Croquet Club is situated at 1 Wairoa Road, Devonport,
just along from the Waitemata Golf Club. The grounds are surrounded
by picturesque turn-of-the-century wooden villas, a truly lovely
location. There are four full-sized lawns, lovingly - and expensively
- maintained by the club's volunteer grounds man and his assistants.
The clubrooms have had a rich and varied life and are primarily
used by club members but are also available for hire.
